Master Sgt. Gregory R. Trent
Gregory Trent, a native of Norton MA. He joined the Army as an artillery in 1998 and completed the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course in 2006. He was well loved and respected by all of his Soldiers, in each unit he was in. He was known for his mentorship, wisdom, and his selflessness, always putting his team first. His support for his team was unparalleled and his leadership was admired. He was also known for his quick wit, delivering one liners to ease tense situations at the perfect moment.
Trent married his wife Bethanie in 2000. They were stationed in Fort Bragg for a few months before PCS’ing to Vicenza, Italy. There, they had their daughter Gwyneth in 2003. Of all the things Trent did in his life, he was most proud of his daughter, which he called his greatest legacy. The family moved back to Fort Bragg in 2006 where they lived while Trent was assigned to Company B, 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne).
His military education includes the Basic Airborne Course, U.S. Army Combatives Course, Warrior Leader’s Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Course, Military FreeFall School, Jumpmaster School, Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant Course, and the Special Forces Qualification Course.
Trent’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, three Afghanistan Campaign Medals, two Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, four Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, five Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbons, NATO Medal, Parachutist Badge, Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Special Forces tab.
