Chelsea's Buffalo Marathon
May 28, 2017
Why I Am Running
My name is Chelsea. I grew up in Buffalo with my mom, dad and younger brother. I moved to Manassas, Virginia in 2013. I have been teaching students with special needs for four years, however, I have been working with children and adults with diverse needs for over eight years. In my free time I enjoy reading, running and exploring Virginia. I am running my first marathon on May 28, 2017. This has been a lifelong goal to complete a marathon by the time I turned 30 years old.
I love teaching and serving my community. Throughout my childhood I was shown the value of service. I attended mission trips with my family which engrained the importance of service to those in need whenever possible. I have chosen to run my first marathon to support Gold Star families and veterans. I truly believe in the value of those who protect and serve our country and the many who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about all of the men and women who serve and the moms, dads, friends and family who have lost someone in that service. By running and raising funds for this organization, I am able to give back to those who make it possible for me to provide my service to the students, families, and community which I am a part of.
