The history behind #MotivatedByTheirLives

Dan Mazzulla loved his children, his family and made it a point to better anyone he interacted with. He knew who he was as a person and what his purpose was; to push people past the limit of what they thought they were capable of and inspired them to be the best they can. Up until his last days, he carried out the core values that he taught: trust, love, toughness, and even his sense of humor. We are grateful for the values he left behind and motivated with the opportunity to carry them on.

After his passing, many people were expressing their love, condolences and prayers “we are sorry for your loss.” While I am grateful for their love and support, I did not feel the same. From the moment of his death, I had not felt a sense of loss. This is where I came up with “Let’s be motivated by his life.” Instead of feeling loss, I felt a strong motivation, desire, responsibility to carry on his legacy and the values he left behind. Dan Mazzulla did his job, he did what a Dad is supposed to do; give their children and loved ones the gifts and opportunities to succeed in life and prepare them for when he is gone; that’s true leadership. That’s exactly what Dan Mazzulla did. In his death, I am grateful that he loved us, that he woke up every day ready to provide for us, push us, and prepare us for life. I feel honored that God somehow gave him to me as a Dad. We never even think of that. We don’t get to choose our parents. Yet, somehow God gave me Dan Mazzulla! And now it is my job, our job, to carry on his values. “Let’s Be Motivated!”
